The first session includes a thorough medical history for safety purposes, counseling on lifestyle changes, and instructions on using the colonic unit. The patient is left in private to lie on the specially-designed, comfortable hydrotherapy table and to insert a speculum the size of a pencil approximately 1 - 2 inches into their rectum. Warm water is slowly gravity-fed to the patient. The patient relaxes and massages their abdomen to loosen debris in the colon. The patient expels waste privately into the machine. The patient controls the water flow and the temperature. The treatments are approximately 30 - 40 minutes.

It is recommended that new patients do 2 back-to-back sessions initially, and once regular, continue with sessions every 2 to 3 months. Those who suffer from irregularity should complete 3 sessions within the first week and have 2 visits the following weeks until regular.
